Meet The Characters
Mark
Meet Mark Shepherd. He is the ‘Inside Man’. Mark comes from a world of secrets and lies. The Inside Man finds him having to confront his own beliefs and the ghosts from his past on an epic journey through insider threat and outsider attack. The series tracks his personal trajectory from lonely hacker to unlikely hero. Starting with Season One, he is on a mission to take down Khromacom, regardless of the people who work there. We find him developing a conscience and building relationships with colleagues, including best friend and security superfan ‘AJ’ and Charlotte, the mild-mannered accounts assistant. Together they embark on a journey into the unknown with security threats around every corner. But who is pulling the strings?
AJ
AJ is a friendly, funny, unstoppable security dynamo. He can’t believe it. He’s lucked into the job of his dreams, working in security, alongside Mark. AJ is Mark’s conscience. He keeps him grounded when there is a threat from outside the organization, but AJ’s loyalty gets tested when Mark seems to be distracted by his budding relationship with Charlotte. AJ is the beating heart of The Inside Man. He’s relentlessly upbeat and can be guaranteed to provide comic relief, whether that’s speed-eating marshmallows or updating his followers on YouTube, all 57 of them.
Maurice
Maurice is the sinister ‘Controller’ who sends Mark in to steal sensitive business information from Khromacom. He’s the voice on the phone sending dread into the young hacker’s heart and the stranger hiding in plain sight. Maurice is a ninja-level social engineer who can flip from Texas businessman to hipster waiter in a heartbeat. He is a giant figure from Mark’s past who just keeps on bringing the surprises as their story moves into an unpredictable future.
Fiona
Fiona is the voice of humanity in the Inside Man family. She’s grounded and thoughtful and brings insights on human nature that lay bare the collateral damage done by hackers. She’s a constant source of encouragement for Mark and AJ and displays an impressive hunger to learn. Keep an eye on Fiona. This is just the beginning of her journey with Mark and AJ.
Charlotte
Charlotte is cut from the same cloth as Mark. She’s intelligent, she’s nerdy and she’s not great at eye contact. We first meet her as the awkward new assistant accountant, but there’s so much more to her, perhaps evidenced by her surprising grasp of multi-factor authentication. Like Fiona, we have only seen a glimpse of Charlotte’s formidable capabilities and the influence she has over Mark’s story.
Violet
Violet is the gifted deepfake expert who social-engineers her way into Season 3 and the ‘Good Shepherd Security’ team. She brings weapons-grade skills that can lift the struggling startup out of a crisis, but there’s a moral and emotional price-tag attached. She has a complicated past and her very presence raises questions that cannot be answered simply or without serious soul-searching. Violet has her work cut out for her, earning the trust of anyone she collaborates with.
